A private company in Gombe State, Shalele Ce Enterprises, has launched a sensitisation programme for 1,000 housewives in the state, training them on online business skills.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the programme at the Gombe State University (GSU) convocation hall on Sunday, the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Maryam Ibrahim Jalo, explained that the initiative aimed to promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance among housewives, allowing them to operate businesses from the comfort of their homes.
She noted that the training would cover digital skills, online advertising, and product promotion to equip the housewives with the necessary tools to succeed in online businesses.
“By enabling women to manage their businesses without having to leave their homes, the programme seeks to reduce marital conflicts and promote peace among spuses”, she stated.
The director publicity of the state chapter of Chamber of Commerce, Yusuf Haruna, expressed support for the initiative, recognising the importance of women entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
One of the participants, Juwairiyyat Mohammed, praised the programme, saying it would be impactful and empower housewives.
She noted that online business is ideal for women as it allows them to balance their domestic responsibilities with their entrepreneurial pursuits.
